Every year the Boys & Girls Club takes the lead in making sure that our at-risk children have a good Christmas experience. Through the Santa’s Helpers program, the Boys & Girls Club brings Christmas joy to almost 300 children in Walker County. Many area businesses, organizations, and individuals donate toys, games, food, clothing, or Christmas decorations so that these children will have presents under their Christmas tree — and, in some cases, have a tree at all. Knowing that they are valued increases our kids’ self-esteem and senses of well-being and belonging. Both Entergy and Walmart have stepped up to be major Santa’s Helpers in 2011.
